Xi'an Jiao tong University School of Medicine – General Medicine (MBBS) Program

Xi'an Jiao tong University pioneered English-medium medical education in China, becoming the first university to launch the MBBS program for international students in 1995. As a prestigious member of the C9 League—China's equivalent of the Ivy League—and referred to as "The MIT of the East," XJTU holds elite status under Project 985 and Project 211, positioning it among China's top-tier comprehensive research universities.

The School of Medicine, founded in 1937, offers a distinctive four-stage curriculum spanning six years. The program begins with foundational studies in Mandarin, Physics, Mathematics, and Medical English, progresses through basic medical sciences, advances to clinical courses, and culminates in clinical practice. This structured approach emphasizes the university's philosophy of "Broad Entrance, Strong Foundation and Emphasis on Practice.

What sets XJTU apart is its exceptional clinical infrastructure. The university operates 20 affiliated teaching hospitals, including three directly affiliated hospitals with over 5,000 beds and ten indirect affiliates with approximately 9,000 beds, ensuring comprehensive clinical exposure across all medical specialties. A unique flexibility allows students to complete their mandatory one-year internship either in China's Grade III Class A hospitals or in their home countries, facilitating smoother transitions to local medical licensing examinations.

XJTU is WHO-recognized, and graduates are eligible for medical licensing examinations worldwide, including MCI, PMDC, USMLE, and NMC. The university also provides NMC coaching for Indian students, significantly enhancing their preparedness for licensing examinations. With over 500 international students from diverse countries and a faculty including Chinese Academy members, XJTU delivers world-class medical education at an affordable cost.
