The university has seven faculties- Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Public health, Faculty of Nursing, and Faculty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The Tbilisi State Medical University has 500 administrative staff members and more than 1000 associate professors. The university has five clinical bases e.g. One Pediatric Academic clinic, three Dental clinics, and one university general clinic.

The university’s main motive is to conduct high-end research activities and medical clinical activities. The university uses modern equipment to teach advanced medical concepts to the students. University’s first clinic is used for academic research, and it has five lecture auditoriums, 70 academic rooms, and 23 clinical directions. In addition to this, the university has a Department of Medical Education, Research, and Strategic Development that was established in 2007. The university also has a digital library that has access to MedicineNet, ProQuest Ebook Central, PubMed, and many more academic databases.

The university does not have a hostel facility. However, there are several affordable flats and apartments in the vicinity of the university.
