• WHAT IS MBBS?

Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is a professional course for which the student is awarded the degree in medicine and surgery upon successful completion of the course. The course aims at imparting the quality education and training to students to help contribute to the growing sector of health and medicine. Medical students are given an in-depth and proper knowledge of human anatomy through theoretical training and practical experience.  

• DURATION OF MBBS

The complete duration of MBBS is usually around 6 years in most of the countries including a rotating internship of one year. In China, the complete duration of MBBS is 5 years. The course is usually divided into several semesters of 6 months each. Also, the medical students are generally involved in hands-on training in the wards and out-patient departments which provide students with real-life experience in practising and performing clinical procedures.  

• ELIGIBILITY FOR MBBS

To obtain MBBS admission the basic criteria is that the student should have scored at least 60% marks in physics, chemistry, and biology aggregate in their 10+2 grade for the general category candidates and 50% for SC/ST candidates. Though different institutes may have different cut off marks, the upper age limit is usually 25 years.  

• ENTRANCE EXAM FOR MBBS

To get admission in MBBS abroad, there will be no separate entrance exam conducted for admission. All the medical aspirants from India, seeking admission abroad, must clear the NEET examination (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) which is one of the most sought national level examinations conducted by National Test Agency (NTA).  

• FEE STRUCTURE FOR MBBS

The fee structures of the universities vary according to the government-funded or private colleges. The average fees range around Rs. 15 lacs to 35 lacs for the complete MBBS course in medical universities of Russia, China, and Ukraine.  

• COURSE STRUCTURE OF MBBS

The MBBS course in most of the countries is divided into several semesters, which is further followed by a mandatory internship of one year. Usually, the syllabus comprises three phases including the Pre-clinical, which covers mainly the initial semesters of the course focusing on the basic knowledge of various subjects like anatomy, physiology etc. The second phase is the Para-Clinical which focuses on the teaching of subjects like forensic medicine, pathology etc along with the essential aspect of the course- Community Medicine. The third phase is the Clinical phase which focuses on practical knowledge and practice along with subjects like psychiatry, paediatrics etc.  

• CAREER AFTER MBBS

After completing their MBBS course abroad, the students manage to earn quite well from the initial stage of their career itself. The salary of the MBBS degree holders further depend upon their knowledge and experience that they gain with time. After getting the experience and good hands-on in this field, doctors may earn a handsome salary of around 8 to 10 lakh per annum.
