Founded

Omsk State Medical Academy was founded in 1921 and as of today, over 30000 students have been trained at four faculties of the Academy: medical, paediatric, and medico-prophylactic and stomatological.

University Introduction:

Omsk Stаtе Mеdicаl Univеrsity is a coeducational university. The university is recognized by the Medical Council of India and the World Health Organization. It is approved by the Central Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the Russian Government. Department & Infrastructure

Out of the 30000 students trained at the academy, more than 139 have become Professors and over 800 are candidates of medical sciences. The school consists of 59 departments.

73 percent of the staff carries an academic degree and over 100 MD-PhD full professors and 300 MD-PhD associate professors are employed in this medical university.

Clinical Departments and Chairpersons of the University are employed at the largest municipal hospitals that are equipped with modern diagnostic facilities. Nearest Airport

Omsk airport “Tsentralny” is based 5 km southwest of the city centre. Flights to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Surgut, Astana (Kazakhstan) can be boarded from here. It is an important gateway to the Russian regions located in Siberia and the Far East.

Nearest Metropolitan City

Petropavl, a city on the Ishim River in northern Kazakhstan close to the border with Russia. It is the capital of the North Kazakhstan Region and located about 261 km west of Omsk along the Trans-Siberian Railway.

Physical Location

Based in the southern part of the West Siberian Plain, in the centre of the southern part of the Omsk region on the banks of the Irtysh River at the confluence with the Om River. The rivers connect the city with a number of coal and other mineral mining cities and towns of Kazakhstan and with oil, natural gas and lumber rich regions of Siberia.

City’s Development

Omsk is the second largest city in Siberia and the eighth in Russia. It is a large industrial centre with light, food, printing, chemical, petrochemical and aerospace industries.

Temperature

The climate is continental with frosty winters and hot summers. The average temperature in January goes to minus 16.3 Degrees Celsius, in summer months, that’s July, it goes over 19 Degrees Celsius.

Hostel

Omsk State Medical University occupies six buildings and has three hostels providing accommodation for all out-of-town students. Since physical training is an integral part of the curriculum, the campus has well-equipped gyms, ski-centre, a sport and recreation centres for the students.

Food

Students can get nutritious Indian food at the canteen of the hostel. Besides, there are many good restaurants around university campus that can be tried.

Medium of Study

The university has multiple faculties such as Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Stomatology, Faculty of Pediatrics, Faculty of Preventive Medicine, and Faculty of Pharmacy. The university has Cеntrаl Rеsеаrch Lаborаtory, Prе-Univеrsity Trаining аnd Cаrееr Cеntеr Cеntеr for Lаborаtory Diаgnostics, а university clinic. Here students practive medicine nad learn about new medical technologies. The univerisiry also has аn еlеctronic еducаtionаl nеtwork intеgrаtеd with thе intеrnеt, fеаturing 350 computеr tеrminаls аnd 12 computеr clаssеs. Thе Studеnt Sciеntific Sociеty, with аbout 800 mеmbеrs, providеs thе bаsis for physiciаn trаining. Thе аcаdеmy librаry is thе lаrgеst of Russiа’s mеdicаl schools, with ovеr 600,000 volumеs including mаny uniquе publicаtions. The university hаs а fully еquippеd computеr room with intеrnеt аccеss.
