International Medical and Technological University was established in 1995 and is located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The school is a private university that started with 5 students all from India. It currently has more than 1000 students. Shri Katuri Subba Rao is the owner of the university. He is also the founder and chairman of the Vignan Educational Foundation.
The Vignan Educational Foundation in India initiated the establishment of the university. Benjamin Mkapa, the third president of Tanzania, together with Jakaya M. Kikwete, the fourth president of Tanzania, sowed the seeds of the establishment of the university when they were Minister of Science and Technology, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation respectively.
